Superfast Telford is the Councils broadband programme which aims
to provide access to superfast broadband to over 9,000 homes and businesses
that would not have benefitted through commercial provision alone. Superfast UK
speeds are defined as download speeds of 24 Mbps or more.
The first phase was a £5.6m partnership between the Council,
BT and BDUK that has changed the way people live, work, learn, socialise and do
business for the better.
The total superfast broadband coverage for Telford and
Wrekin is now over 98% (3% higher than the set national target of 95%).
For those premises, both residential and commercial, that
are located in the remaining 2%, there are a number of other schemes that may
be able to provide support, view more information about the schemes:
Marches Business Broadband Grant Scheme
National Gigabit Voucher Scheme
National Broadband Scheme
Community Fibre Partnerships.
The completion of the first phase is not the end of the
Councils ambitions to provide broadband across the borough. Superfast Telford
is committed to making a connection available, where possible, to any remaining
homes and business that want it. Find out the next steps.
